The Benavides Cancer Institute (BCI) of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital was inaugurated in 2006. BCI is the answer to the need of a complete, cancer-focused medical facility without patients having to travel abroad to avail of total package on cancer treatment with same quality but cheaper.The Department of Radiation Oncology, headed by Dr. Teresa Sy Ortin as department chair, offers treatment of different tumor types based on integrated patient-focused care and evidence-based treatment protocols using various modalities such as

• Conventional and 3D conformal radiotherapy
• Intensity modulated radiotherapy
• Stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiotherapy
• High-dose rate brachytherapy (intracavitary, intraluminal, interstitial)
