On behalf of the Philippine Radiation Oncology Society, Dr. Miriam Joy Calaguas (right) congratulates Prof. Dr. Richard Potter (left) for receiving the prestigious Emmanuel van der Schueren Award 2010 during the ESTRO Annual Congress held in Barcelona, Spain last September 12-16. The said award has been presented since 2004 in honor of ESTRO co-founder Prof. van der Schueren for doing outstanding work in research and teaching and the general development of radiooncology. Prof. Potter also delivered the honorary lecture entitled Linking Research and Education: Gynecologic Brachytherapy as Template for Future ESTRO Activities.

Dr. Calaguas, PROS and SEAROG president, was invited to talk about the South East Asian Radiation Oncology Group (SEAROG) educational activities during the ESTRO School Symposium. This was an open session but attended mostly by the ESTRO teachers. Also Dr. Calaguas attended the special dinner for heads of internatinal radiation oncology societies hosted by Dr. Jean Bourhis, ESTRO president.
